Henry vs. the Hive

No, it's not what you think. Henry hasn't been near the hives. He hasn't been stung, nor has anyone else in our family. The bees have just been monopolizing the blog lately and it's time to see who people out there care about more, the bees or the baby. So, here are a few videos of Henry eating and me trying to feed a moving target. Is it more entertaining than the bees? Should I just turn this blog over to my husband to chronicle his new-found love of black and gold insects? Vote for Henry by leaving a comment. Vote for the bees by asking how the hive combination went. May the cutest bug win.

(That was definitely the cutest/funniest video. You're allowed to skip the rest of these videos & I'll never know!)

OK, OK, the combining of the hives is going very well so far. They seem to have accepted the new queen without bloodshed. & you're allowed to care about both the kids & the bees. We do!

Bethany's turn!

Uncle Dedo's first beewalk.

Starring Henry

In this clip, Henry valiantly tries to eat his hand and wild monkeys screech in the backround.

He doesn't realize the constant danger he's in...

...of being eaten alive.

I'll eat you up I love you so!

Guess who can roll over as of yesterday?
Here's a hint:

He's growing up way too fast. Maybe it's because I'm missing half of his baby-hood sleeping all night! The girls were kind enough to wake me often so I wouldn't miss too much, but Henry doesn't recognize my need to feed and cradle my newborns for hours every night. He cares more about his sleep. He definitely needs his quiet time after being mauled by three doting sisters all day. It does catch me off guard every morning when I go into his room as he's bigger & smilier & older. Love my baby boy!

It looks a lot like Christmas!

I kept my Christmas decor pretty simple this year. A tree & nativities & that's pretty much it. I'm into simple lately. Simple as in lazy, procrastinating, messy, forgetful & unorganized. But Christmas will come without ribbons, it will come without tags, it will come without packages, boxes, or bags. One of these years I'm going to really test Mr. Geisel's theory & skip the packages, boxes & bags & see if Christmas comes just the same! Someday maybe. But not this year.

This year, there is something very special under our tree:

Henry is a delightful babe - mellow, sleeps most of the night, cute as a button.

Cuter than a button.

Don't worry, we don't leave him under the tree all the time. But he does like to look at the lights.

Where is Heaven?

It hasn't even been two weeks and yet it seems as though Henry has always been a part of our family. A child's birth is such a spiritual moment; there is suddenly someone in the room, in your arms, that you didn't know before, and yet, you feel like you've always known and loved him.To hold Henry for the first time, to kiss him and smell him and stare into his eyes that couldn't yet focus on mine, was an experience I will keep in my heart and ponder, as Mary did, as I have with the birth of each of my children. I am filled with gratitude and wonder at the opportunity to love and raise and mother one of God's precious spirits. The veil is so thin when children come into this world. It is as though they are escorted by angels from heaven to their earthly home. Heaven is so close in that moment; you can feel the power of that tiny person's spirit, before they forget from whence they came and need us to teach them of where we are trying to return. My heart was filled with love for my son, for my husband, for my family. I could feel the love my Heavenly Father has for my little boy also. I want to always remember that feeling, the feeling that no matter how much I love my son, or my daughters, they are loved even more by their Heavenly Parents. Matthew and I have the sacred trust of teaching them that, so they can feel God's love for them just as we did the moment they were born.
Where is Heaven? Is it very far?
When you're with the ones you love, it's right where you are.

(Here are the detes: Friday night at 10:45 P.M., I had just layed down to go to sleep after tucking the girls in way past their bedtime & tidying up the house, when I felt/heard that familiar POP of my water breaking. I woke up Matthew and called his parents to come over & watch our sleeping girls. We hopped in the car and called the hospital to let them know we were on our way, and arrived in plenty of time to get checked in and all settled and comfy in the room. The nurses and staff were so kind and calm. My husband was awesome. He has gotten pretty good at the labor coach thing. All I needed was to hold his hand and know he was there. Henry was born at 11:50 P.M. His cry was music to our ears. I haven't slept much since then, but this newborn time is so fleeting, that I really don't care.)
